Founded in 1906 at Cornell University, Alpha Phi Alpha is the first intercollegiate fraternity for African American men. Known for producing iconic civil rights leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Thurgood Marshall, Alpha promotes scholarship, fellowship, character, and service.
Chartered at Georgia Southern on July 12, 1980, the Xi Tau Chapter鈥攁lso known as the “703rd House of Alpha”鈥攈as been a leader in student life, academic achievement, and cultural change on campus.

Founded in 1908 at Howard University, Alpha Kappa Alpha is the first sorority established by college-trained African American women. The Lambda Kappa Chapter, chartered on聽May 7, 1977, was the聽first African American sorority聽on Georgia Southern鈥檚 campus.
This chapter is dedicated to聽academic excellence, service to all mankind, and the development of confident and successful young women.
Omega Psi Phi was founded in 1911 at Howard University on the principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift. The Zeta Delta Delta Chapter was chartered on December 5, 1987, and has led initiatives across campus and the Statesboro community.
Also known as 鈥淭he ZOO,鈥 the chapter encourages leadership, academic strength, and service rooted in friendship.
Delta Sigma Theta was founded in 1913 at Howard University and is committed to聽sisterhood, scholarship, and service. The Xi Eta Chapter was chartered on聽January 6, 1979, and is known for its leadership and community service on campus.
With a strong foundation in social justice and advocacy, the chapter continues to shape the future of Georgia Southern students.
Founded in 1914, Phi Beta Sigma focuses on brotherhood, scholarship, and service. The Pi Rho Chapter, chartered on February 14, 1987, has earned recognition across campus and in the Statesboro community鈥攊ncluding an official Phi Beta Sigma Day in the city (Sept. 12, 2014).
Founded in 1920, Zeta Phi Beta stands for聽service, scholarship, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. Chartered at Georgia Southern on聽November 2, 1989, the Epsilon Xi Chapter includes student leaders and scholars making a difference on and off campus.
Sigma Gamma Rho was founded in 1922 by educators and promotes聽greater service, greater progress. The Tau Xi Chapter was established on聽November 10, 2017, and has led unique service collaborations across campus.
Founded in 1963, Iota Phi Theta emphasizes聽leadership, citizenship, fidelity, and brotherhood. The Zeta Chi Chapter was first chartered on聽April 16, 2005, and re-chartered in 2017. The chapter is known for its community involvement and strong campus leadership.
