University Named Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs Magazine

鈥淏eing chosen to participate in the inaugural White Coat Ceremony acknowledges the stellar reputation that the School of Nursing programs at 橘子视频 have at the national level,鈥 said Jean Bartels, Ph.D., former AACN president and the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at 橘子视频. 鈥淭his ceremony places the School of Nursing in elite company and recognizes the program for its historically strong curriculum and accomplished graduates.鈥

New York Times Bestselling Author to Present Fries Lecture at 橘子视频

橘子视频 will host Susan Orlean, The New York Times bestselling author and staff writer for the New Yorker, as the 2014 Norman Fries Distinguished Lectureship Series speaker on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center, 847 Plant Drive. Her presentation titled 鈥淟earning By the Book: A Writer Explores the World of Libraries,鈥 is free and open to the public.

University to Participate in New USG Campus Safety and Security Committee

Moth Project to Attract 鈥楽econd-Shift Pollinators鈥 on Campus

鈥淭his visually stunning project acts as the stage for a public art experience, cross-pollinating various disciplines, and further expanding an understanding of and appreciation for moths and other nighttime pollinators that are vital to the area,鈥 said Georgia Southern Professor Jeff Schumki.

橘子视频 Granted First Undergraduate Manufacturing Engineering Program in the State of Georgia

鈥淢anufacturing is returning to the U.S., and the state of Georgia can now prepare its citizens for careers in this fast-growing field,鈥 said Mohammad Davoud, dean of the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Information Technology. 鈥淓mployees trained in manufacturing will enable Georgia to attract corporations and industries to invest in the state and region. These corporations need manufacturing engineers who are trained to think innovatively and use state-of-the-art techniques and technologies. The new Manufacturing Engineering program at Georgia Southern will do just that.鈥

Archie Manning Postponed Until Spring

The University has rescheduled its Leadership Lecture Series featuring speaker Archie Manning, National Football League player, 1989 College Hall of Fame member, and Chairman of the National Football Foundation, until Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 7-8 p.m. The rescheduling from Sept. 17, 2014 is due to unforeseen construction at Hanner Fieldhouse.

School of Nursing Receives $2.2 Million in Grant Funding

橘子视频鈥檚 School of Nursing received more than $2.2 million in grant funding, which will serve three purposes: help to establish a Center for Nursing Scholarship and Research, introduce a new graduate level Chronic Illness Certificate Program and provide scholarships to students seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner degree.
